I thought it would be nice to write some words down on here about the Polar watch which is one of the most popular fitness watch at the moment, and has been the best gym buddie to many guys working out and/or searching to lose weight. Well, I've used it for 2 years and now I've decided to take a step back and reconsider this fitness pal.

Let's start on the bright side. Yes, of course, buying a Polar watch is an investment and it will give you some motivation also, because you want to make it worth the price, and because it is always nice to work out with something new :) It's very individual and cannot be lent, as it calculates the figures from all the personal data (weight;height) of the user. And it's super nice to see how your workout goes! You simply fasten the heart monitoring system on your chest and it connects with the watch to inform you about your heart rate, calories burned (per session / per week), level of activity... So you get super excited to see what numbers appear on the screen at the end! It's an incredible motivator for a beginner!

But there comes a time you get to know each other very deeply and see each other flaws... Oh weel, for anyone who gets easily addicted, the numbers on the watch will maybe be your new demons, like they were mines. I was always trying to burn more calories, work hour for longer, get the numbers rise up, and I really forgot about muscle-mind connection, proper form and PLEASURE. I reached a point where if I hadn't brought my watch for a session, I would not even work out because my weekly total "scores" would be wrong.

Not long ago, my batteries started to die (yes, the batteries are super long lasting!) and I forgot to go to the shop whre I can have it changed. And that's when I started to workout without it and now I just re-discover all the feelings of good pain and soreness, of my muscles moving and getting killed! I think it's actually the best thing to have a polar watch but if you start to feel stressed out about what it said, then you need to have a closer look at the situation cause yes, this would be a problem. Like the numbers on the scale you once dreamt to see go down, this kind of addiction is very stressful and is stress part of a fitness life ? NO IT ISN'T! ;)

Commençons du bon côté. Oui, évidemment, acheter une montre Polar est un investissement qui motive, parce qu'on veut le rentabiliser, et parce que c'est toujours cool de s'entraîner avec un nouveau joujou :) C'est très individuel et ne peut être prêté, puisqu'il calcule à partir de vos données perso (poids;taille). Et c'est super de voir comment se déroule la séance! Vous attachez simplement l'électrocardiofréquencemètre (eh oui.) autour de votre poitrine et il se connecte à votre montr pour vous informer sur votre rythme cardiaque, calories dépensées (par session/par semaine), niveau d'activité. Une lotivation incroyable pour quelqu'un qui débute!

Mais vient un temps où vous vous connaissez si bien que vous voyez les défauts de l'autre... Et bien, pour quelqu'un qui devient vite accro, les chiffres qui s'affichent sur cette montre seront vos nouveaux démons, comme ils ont été les miens. J'essayais toujours de brûler plus de calories, m'entraîner plus longtemps, faire monter les chiffres, et j'en oubliais la connexion muscle-cerveau,  la technique et e PLAISIR. J'en était arrivée à un point où, si j'oubliais ma montre, je ne m'entraînais même pas parce que mes "résultats" de la semaine seraient faussés.

Il y a peu, mes piles ont commencées à être faibles (oui, elles durent un max!) et j'ai oublié d'aller les faire changer. Et c'est à ce moment que je me suis entrainée sans et j'ai redécouvert les sensation de bonne douleur et de courbatures, de mes muscles qui bougent! Je pense qu'avoir une montre polar c'est vraiment le top mais si vous commencez à être stressé(e) à propos des chiffres, alors il faut se poser des questions car c'est un problème. Comme les chiffres qui s'affichent sur la balance, que vous rêviez de voir descendre, ce genre d'addiction est très stressante et est-ce que le stress fait parti d'une vie saine? NON!
